Box & Matching Cards

boxlg

boxwlid

I saw a box similar to this one on Pinterest. There were no directions. And I liked it so much that I decided to go to my craft room & figure out the dimensions. This is what I came up with. It holds 6, 3″X3″ cards and envelopes.

I love making 3X3 cards and I love making boxes. This is the perfect match for me. It will make a nice gift.

March Paper Pumpkin Alternate Project

baglg

My March Paper Pumpkin kit arrived!

???????????????????????????????

These kits get better every month. And the stamp sets that come with them are super! This months Paper Pumpkin kit was intended to make cards but I decided to change it up a bit. Here’s what I came up with.

bagstripe

You can’t really tell from the picture but this is a treat bag/box. The card stock in the kit is so nice. Easily strong enough to make a box.

bagmelon

With this one I used my favorite Melon Mambo which really pops against the black.

To make these bags, I placed the pre-scored card onto my Simply Scored and scored 1/4″ on each side of the pre-scored line. Then I turned it and scored each side 1/2″. I cut up to the score marks on the small squares in the center, ignoring the pre-scored line. Added adhesive and brought the sides together. Very simple and quick! The stamped images are all from the stamps that were included in the kit (except for the small flower on the Melon Mambo one).

card3

For today’s post, I bring you 3 more cards using Irresistibly Yours DSP, a free item in the Sale-A-Bration catalog, now until March 31, 2015 with any $50 or more order from Stampin’ Up!. The color for this card is Mossy Meadow.

card2

On this card I used Blackberry Bliss. Such a rich, beautiful color.

card1

This beauty was made with Coastal Cabana card stock and Bermuda Bay Ink.

This DSP is so much fun to work with. There are 6 different patterns in the package. And you get 2 sheets of each design. The patterns are pre-embossed onto the white paper in white. The embossing, resists the ink you apply, leaving a beautiful white pattern on top.  I just love the effect!

Stay Closed Box

boxlg

Today’s post is a fun stay closed faceted box that I saw on Pinterest.

box2

For this one, I used Melon Mambo card stock for the base of the box. And I embossed the Whisper White for layering on top. I like that the box is a unique shape. To open the box you just pinch in the sides. So clever!

box1

This box was made with Bermuda Bay card stock, layered with Best Day Ever DSP (free with a $50 order from Stampin’ Up! until March 31, 2015). The larger butterfly was cut from Coastal Cabana card stock.

box3

The card stock for the base of this box is Daffodil Delight. I was thinking of Spring when I chose the paper and colors. The DSP is also from the Best Day Ever DSP pack. The Ribbon and buttons is another item you can choose for free from the Sale-A-Bration catalog with a $50 order until March 31, 2015.

To add the layers onto the box base I cut a 3 3/4″ square, folded it in half without creasing it and just pinched the top. Then I put it in my trimmer and cut from the center mark to the corner on both sides.  To make one of these cute boxes for yourself you can see the video here: Stay Closed Box

Sketch Challenge #5

sketch

This is the sketch that the Glitter Queens were challenged with this week. I am new to doing these layouts and so it has been fun to see what I come up with. It also helps me think outside the box.

sketch2

This is the first one I came up with. I usually end up doing a stepped up version after my first try at it.

So, this was my stepped up version. And my favorite.

I saw this box design on Pinterest and had to try my hand at it.  Yes, I used Something Borrowed DSP. (Again.)  🙂

Here is a version using the Back to Black DSP. I think that they both look elegant.

More Of Something Borrowed

hello2

After doing the Glitter Queens sketch challenge posted on Thursday, I decided to step up the design a little. I did some embossing on the layers and it really made a difference. I also added a 3D flower using the “Crazy about You” stamp set and “Flower Medallion” punch. I stamped the flower 3 times and punched them out then fussy cut the 2 smaller layers.

hello

I have only had this stamp set  a couple of days and I was excited to use it. So, while I was playing around with these supplies, I decided this stamp set needed to be used. This is what I came up with. I love it!  The stamp set is called “Your Perfect Day” and it is in the 2015 Occasions catalog. The “hello” is from the “Crazy About You” stamp set. Of all the cards I’ve made with this DSP, this is my most favorite.
